The common width specifications of band saw blades include: 9 mm, 13 mm, 19 mm, 27 mm, 34 mm, 41 mm, 54 mm, 67 mm, 80 mm, and 100 mm. From the application of band saw blades, wide specification saw blades are generally used for large workpiece materials, but wide specification saw blades correspond to large sawing machine structures and high saw blade.
The width of the serrated edge under compression decreases accordingly, and when it reaches a width of 80mm, the cross-section of the entire cutting working area is in a tensile state, making it less prone to cutting skewness Therefore, for workpiece materials with high hardness and strength, in order to reduce material waste caused by oblique cutting, priority should be given to using wide saw blades and large sawing machines for sawing.
Through the analysis and experimental research of stress distribution in the cutting work area of the band saw blade, some conclusions about the application of the band saw blade can be obtained:
1) When sawing hard workpiece materials, the feed speed should be properly reduced so that the feed force and cutting force are within the appropriate range, otherwise it is easy to cut obliquely It is best to use a large sawing machine with a band saw width of 41mm or more, as this will improve the service life, cutting efficiency, and cutting accuracy of the band saw blade
2) When using the same specification sawing machine, if the workpiece size increases, the feed rate should be reduced, otherwise the probability of cutting diagonally increases
3) When sawing softer and smaller workpieces with sufficient tension, fatigue band failure is generally the main cause; When sawing hard and large-sized workpieces, the main failure is due to oblique cutting
4) When designing saw blades, material performance and operational requirements should be proposed for different working conditions When sawing hard and large-sized workpiece materials, it is necessary to increase the rigidity of the saw blade and appropriately increase the tension during use When sawing soft and large-sized workpiece materials, the development of band saw blades needs to focus on the fatigue of the materials, and the tension can be appropriately reduced during use.
