The band saw blade weld groove grinding machine, or simply a groove grinding machine, is a specialized piece of equipment for post-weld treatment of band saw blades. It is primarily used to remove residual welding burrs (flash) from the weld grooves.
During flash butt welding, both ends of the band saw blade are heated and melted, then subjected to upsetting to complete the weld. The extruded metal may leave residual burrs in the grooves near the weld. This equipment uses a grinding wheel to locally grind the grooves at the weld, removing the welding burrs, restoring the groove contour, and improving the quality of the finished band saw blade after welding.
