HSS Hacksaw Blade

Correct blade tension is vital for a straight kerf and long blade life. Low tension causes the blade to bend or twist, resulting in high stresses, heavy wear, and uneven kerfs. Excessive tension stresses the blade and saw frame.

Harder materials need a lower stroke rate and higher feed pressure. Burnt chips mean too high feed pressure. Tooth cracks indicate excessive pressure. Powdery chips suggest too low pressure. Curled chips show optimal pressure. The teeth shouldn't touch the workpiece when starting. At least three teeth should be engaged at all times.

To get the best cutting results, factors like the material, machine settings, and operator skills matter. Choosing the right blade and applying tension and pressure correctly improve cutting efficiency and blade lifespan.
